on a scale from...

I remember something like on a scale of shrimp to shark. thought up by clint? maybe on his blahg? anyway,

On a scale from delightfully charming to painfully horrific:
how embarrassing is it that i answered the door in my nightgown at 11:15 a.m.?

I had been awake for three hours, does that lessen or heighten the embarrassment?

You have a night gown?

It was the scale from Shrimp to Whale. I remember that sailboat was right before whale. I can't remember exactly where octopus was, but this sounds like about an octopus-level embarrassment.

depends on who was on the other side of the door.

there were two people not looking for me or anyone who lived in our household and the lady said something to the effect oh sorry! when i answered, so i am pretty sure she was embarrassed for me.

I totally remember the scale conversation. I badly mangled it.

I have a pj story, as I don't own a night gown-- One morning I woke up and decided to clean out my fish tanks, and figured I didn't need to dress up for the occasion. I was almost done when the UPS guy came with a package for one of my roommates, so of course I felt compelled to answer the door. He took a long hard look at me and asked if I'd had a late night (this happened around 11am).
